Be traditional or original with “Oliebollen” from Holland. This Dutch Delight is only consumed in Holland close towards and on New Year’s Eve, but can be enjoyed every day. These Dutch Donuts are freshly baked and are sure to surprise the ‘knower’ and the ‘surprised’. These delicious treats come frozen and can be stored till that special time. These are the products that wet most frequently ordered in the last quarter.

Our bestseller is Almond filled shortbread, a typical Dutch recipe. In the Netherlands it is called “Gevulde Koek” which means stuffed biscuit/cookie.

Traditionally, the stuffing is almond paste. However, one can encounter cheap versions in supermarkets, where almond paste stuffing is replaced with grounded white beans, a less tasty surrogate.

They are often served as an “in between snack”, due to their great taste and filling nature. There is a very wholesome taste to these cookies and they are a richer / stronger’ variation of Almond Fingers or Kanos.

Our runner up is Brinta. Traditional Dutch cereal that is most favortie with the little tikes. Brinta is a wholemeal grainproduct made of the whole-wheat corns. Brinta contains the most important nutrients such as protein, carbohydrates, vitamines and minerals. This makes Brinta a healthy breakfast en gives you energy for a good start of the day.

Of course we have many more products in our store.

We have the famous Dutch Bitterballen, Croquetten, different kinds of cheeses and we are planning to announce some exciting home made Dutch snacks. We cannot reveal just yet what they are, but our test maketing shows very promising.

Carnival on the Mile

Meet us this weekend at the “Carnival on the Mile” in Coral Gables.

This event hosts lots of crafts, artists, foods, music and fun. Saturday from 10 to midnight and Sunday from 10 to 8pm. Come and have your piece of Dutch treats or just to enjoy a good time.

When coming on Sunday to ‘The Mile’, you can also visit the Premiere in the US of the Dutch movie ’Code Blue’ from Urszula Antoniak, which plays that afternoon at the Coral Gables Art Cinema, followed by a reception at Books & Books. (ticket required)
